NEW ALBUM WEEK: Ging Gang Gong De Do Gong De Laga Raga by Rob Zombie - Well, Rob Zombie is back! Admittedly, I was never the biggest Rob Zombie fan, but I liked his shtick in pieces. While getting his start in the mid 80’s with White Zombie, it was not until their first major studio release in 1992 (and with exposure on Beavis and Butthead) that the band started to garner any attention. White Zombie itself was short-lived as Rob’s side projects eventually rolled into his solo work, but it was the solo albums that turned out to be his best work, especially metal classics like Hellbilly Deluxe.
The thing about Rob Zombie was that his act was never lacking in entertainment value. That is where the previous album failed, it just sounded forced and stale, but Venomous Rat Regeneration Vendor shines. It just sounds fun again without trying so hard and the musicianship is spot on. Oh, and more importantly the tunes rock, especially Ging Gang Gong. How can you not like a song that includes Peking Duck in the lyrics?
