Son of Gun by Nirvana (Vaselines cover) - Nope, it’s not Cover Friday, but felt like I needed something upbeat today to remind me it really is summer. Son of a Gun was the debut single from the Scottish alternative band The Vaselines back in 1987. The band never lasted all that long, but they got the attention of Kurt Cobain who became a fan and introducing the band to a much larger audience.
This was a cover from the Incesticide album, an album that ended up being my 1993 summer tunes compilation. This tune and Molly’s Lips were two of my favorite tracks off this album. It is just straight up infectious pop rock music and Nirvana plays the tune with their usual abandon and noise.
