We have previously raised funds in 1996 ($200 million), 2000 ($400 million) and 2008/9 ($200 million). I am super excited to announce that today is a day of lots of new things for my partners & me: A new fund, a new office and a new brand. Let’s start with the fund. This month we closed our 4th fund of $200 million.

MySpace was: scantily dressed, teenaged, middle-America, design chaos and on ad steroids. In April of 2000 there were fears that the AOL / Time Warner merger would create a monopoly on the Internet. Facebook had grown stratospherically from 2004-2007 to 100 million users and was everything that MySpace wasn’t.

I know that most people who are close to them tend to deny their existence, as we saw in the great housing bubble of 2002-2007 and the dot com bubble of 1997-2000. I believe a bubble occurs when a market is willing to pay greater than intrinsic value for an asset class. That asset class need not represent the broader market. You feel it, too.
