I had previously raised VC in 1999, 2000, 2001 and 2005. Another called Parker Harris, the co-founder and CTO. My blog linked to Brad Feld’s blog because I was so grateful for his series on term sheets and he was one of the biggest reasons that as a VC I felt compelled to blog. That changed very quickly.

But what about once you have a term sheet? when you missed your targets, when your co-founder quit, when the competition chose your competitor or when the other investors around the table lost confidence? My chips were down in late 2000 / early 2001. When the world was ending? After Sept 11th? After Sept 08?

Should Founders Be Allowed to Take Money off the Table?

Founders however are asked to take low salaries and never really get back the time they worked for free.
