2000 was the Peak of Inflated Expectations. 1995 – 2000 was the climb up to the Peak. 2013 forward has been the plateau of Productivity. Ponder Gartner’s Hype Cycle for a moment. You can apply this to pretty much anything in tech. 2002 was the Trough of Disillusionment. Apply Gartner’s Hype Cycle to it.
