In my attempt to build credibility and recruit people for my little company, I had started the Pittsburgh Java Users Group (the PittJUG today has close to 500 members!). I got my greencard approval in 2001, a few months after 9/11. Besides I was a young, first-time entrepreneur at the age of 23. In a startup cash is king.
