In a consumer Web venture, the hustler/sales guy is non-core (a few biz dev deals are important but not core). The architecture has to deal with the constant pivots and directional changes to adapt to the market needs. The vast majority of patterns and architecture patterns that we see in PHP, Ruby and other scripting languages are incomplete implementations of stuff the Java and C# guys created. On programmers, language criticisms; If I were working with.NET and had a solid.NET architecture, I would hire.NET developers. Same with J2EE.
