Of course you now book when you want and even choose your restaurant based on availability at the time / day you want and you can book on your mobile phone at 2am or 8pm. Today they announced the mobile version of their product – I’d be grateful if you would download it and give it a spin. It sounds crazy, right?

Ynon & I first discussed Maker in early 2012. Ryan was not only a senior engineer at Salesforce.com (he ran mobile and also ran content management) but was also my cofounder at Koral and lead architect at BuildOnline. Another major hire was Ryan Lissack who joined as CTO.

As Google starts offering more consumer products (read: mobile devices) I assure you they will find ways to take customer service calls from you. But What About Mobile? You may have seen recently the WSJ report that Twitter is killing it with mobile ads while Facebook & Google have struggled. We have ridden the mobile wave.

All the data actually suggests with the growth of mobile, inbound sales calls will double from 30 billion to 60 billion in 3 years (source: Kelsey). In fact 61% of all mobile searches where a customer contacts a business it is via a phone call (source: Google). Some quick data that I pulled from EmailisNotDead.com (mid 2012).

Of course most of you know SnapChat, Tinder & Whisper and many people immediately associate the success of Los Angeles under the SoLoMo banner (Social, Local, Mobile) and you wouldn’t be wrong. Around $400 billion of imports & exports pass through the LA ports each year, which set the national high-water mark in 2012.
