But in my mind there’s little doubt we’re in a tech boom, and just as the last boom didn’t feel self-evident until ’98 or ’99 I suspect this one may not until 2015 or 2016. The US government last shut down in 1995 and 1996.

We’re off to a fresh start here at the beginning of 2016. We may find here in 2016 that #1 and #2 are more cyclical in nature. Looking back at 2015, the standout theme in the VC/startup ecosystem was unicorn hunting. Potential for instant global distribution (mobile app stores, Facebook, etc).
