Gartner Inc. last week predicted worldwide shipments of 3-D printers to reach 217,350 units in 2015, and forecast shipments of more than 2.3 million by 2018. A day after H-P announced its printers, Autodesk Inc. said it created a $100 million fund to bankroll researchers and entrepreneurs in the 3-D printing sector.
