The popularity of blogging has grown exponentially over the years. While some people blog as a hobby, others do it for profit.

It has had a significant impact of how we navigate the Internet. We read blogs for advice and tips on almost everything. From cooking for beginners to home remodeling for experts, you can find a blog about almost anything.

Today’s savvy businesses also maintain a company blog. As a highly effective form of inbound marketing, blogging is a proven marketing tactic.

But with blogs having such relaxed tones and topics, how can you stay true to your brand and use your blog effectively? Here are four quick tips to keep in mind:

  1. Create posts that are relatable.

This is your chance to show your customers who you are (i.e., your human side.). Take the opportunity to highlight new employees, share insider industry tips, or discuss recent contributions made to the local community.

Since everything else on your company website has a professional tone, take advantage of the company blog to be more relatable. When customers feel as though they can relate to you, they are more likely to patronize your business.

  2. Share customer testimonials.

Blog about customer testimonials (i.e. ask customers to write about their experience with your organization in detail versus doing the standard, brief testimonials.).

You can also create a series of video blogs (vlogs) highlighting customer experience. Interview interesting and engaging customer son camera and publish it on your company blog. Don’t let Google reviews be the only way potential patrons find out about your business.

  3. Don’t forget about SEO.

Blogging is a proven tool that can increase traffic to your website. If your company blog is properly optimized for SEO purposes you can easily draw more people to the site when they search for subjects and content relevant to your product or service.

“Every time you write a blog post, it’s one more indexed page on your website. It’s also one more cue to Google and other search engines that your website is active and they should be checking in frequently to see what content you’ve published that they should surface,” Hubspot writer Corey Eridon explains. “Every new indexed page is one more opportunity for you to show up in search engines, and drive traffic to your website through organic search.”

  4. Be useful and relevant.

Another awesome benefit of blogging for business is the opportunity to promote complementary business ventures outside of inundating customers with email and advertisements.

For example, if you are a life coach you can share how you combat stress alongside your experience about a recent personal training session that was rewarding. You can even work with your trainer to cross-promote complimentary services and co-market to your respective customer bases. When customers read your blog about lifestyle, health and wellness, you’ve also created value that goes beyond a hard sell.

Take these things into consideration when crafting posts for your company blog. Blogging can be very beneficial for business, especially when it comes to traffic and acquiring new leads. Make sure the content is relevant and relatable. If you aren’t sure what to write, hire a professional writer.
