For many of us, blogging is a business. So you have to ask yourself, what is more important: time or money?

If you are a blogger and considering outsourcing tasks to freelancers, it’s good to think this way. You need to decide whether you want to hang onto your money and control or outsource some tasks to save time. A number of things must work together in order to produce the results you need to be a successful blogger.

To help you boost productivity, here’s a list of 8 essential blogging tasks you should outsource to a freelancer.

1. Digital marketing

Digital marketing “is an umbrella term for all of your online marketing efforts. Businesses leverage digital channels such as Google search, social media, email, and their websites to connect with their current and prospective customers.” It also involves anything from creating podcasts, videos, and infographics to marketing your blog on social media. It usually involves the creation and promotion of digital assets. Freelance platforms like Fiverr.com connect thousands of freelance digital content creators to users who need help in this area.

2. Back-office support

Virtual assistants can help you with a number of different types of tasks such as data entry, e-commerce fulfillment, writing, content creation, research, etc. You can define the need and hire a virtual assistant using professional freelancing sites like Upwork.com. Review the listings to find the best virtual assistant for your needs and negotiate a rate.

3. Social media management

Social media can fall under the digital marketing umbrella, however, if it is a primary task then it may need dedicated support. Unfortunately, if you’re building a blog as a brand you may not have the time to manage your social media presence adequately.

This is especially true for bloggers who own and manage multiple blogs. Not to mention, they may own websites connected to a specific blogs. These websites likely includes physical or digital products that need management on a regular basis (e.g., dropshipping, fulfillment, etc.)

So it’s a good idea to outsource social media management if you can’t find the time to do it yourself.

Meanwhile, you can also automate and manage social media at scale by using tools like ZOHO Social.

4. Blogging micro tasks

Micro tasks are tedious. For example: inventory management, database management for emails and customer data, CRM for contacts, etc. Micro tasks are often necessary, yet require a lot of time that can distract you from the more critical aspects of running a blog.

Consider using a marketplace like FreelanceMyWay, to hire freelance experts that specialize in online business and marketing tasks such as web development, social media, content creation, and data entry.

5. Website design and development

Let’s face it. Not everyone is blessed with a strong artistic ability in graphic design or the technical acumen for web development. However, it’s important for visual elements on your blog and the user experience (UX) to be at its best. If you need to create eye-catching graphics, browse marketplaces like 99designs. Also, Upwork offers a number of development freelancers for hire.

6. Online editing and proofreading

If you create your own content or outsource, it’s important to make sure the quality is consistent. This pertains to the content, format, grammar and overall readability. You can hire freelance writers or use article and essay writing platforms like Bid4Papers.com. Online editing and proofreading services can easily improve any text, eliminate grammar errors, detect plagiarism (if you accept guest posts) and much more.

7. Customer service

If you’re building a blog-to-brand empire and offer products and services then customer service is a key priority. Much of the customer support software on the market offers automated ticketing, live chat, and features that allow you to track, prioritize, and solve customer interactions with ease. Consider online tools like Zendesk or Freshdesk.

If you experience high call volume, you may want to consider outsourcing inbound call management to call centers like Liveops.com. Let trained and reliable experts and automated software handle customer orders or customer service issues so you can focus on growing your blog.

8. Software development

Plan to create an app for your blog? Perhaps you want to incorporate new technology into your blog? Software development involves writing code that can include up to 5 or more programming languages, then packaging the code into a user-friendly experience, testing, and selling it. This is highly specialized and requires technical skills. If you need to hire seasoned software engineers, coders and architects with expertise across hundreds of technologies, use platforms like Toptal, to find the best freelance talent.

Outsourcing is a no-brainer for bloggers

Blogging requires a focus on increasing site traffic and key metrics, so you’ll want to focus on results, not the process. If you are too involved in the process, you won’t have time to focus on growing and monetizing your blog.

If you outsource menial (but important) tasks, you can focus on what’s really important.

It all comes down to the old “time vs. money” argument. If you are just starting out, you will try to control everything and cut costs. However, as you monetize and grow revenue, you will want to focus on scaling and spend a little cash to free up your time.

As many of the world’s top entrepreneurs and richest people commonly say, “You can always get more money. But you can never get more time.“

With that in mind, it’s time to outsource and work on your blog and not just in it.
