You can do this by targeting specific investors, with non-disclosure agreements, but crowdfunding will require early and broad public marketing efforts of your timeframe. In reality, the most successful funding decision I still see is called ‘bootstrapping,’ or self-funding.

The only way to get free software was to apply for beta programs, which were not open to the public back then and usually required that you sign an Non-Disclosure Agreement. I bootstrapped that business for 10 years before selling it. That was the software that everyone wanted at the time. Why would anyone give me money?

Im a UX and front end designer bootstrapping my own products with pure sweat equity at night but always looking for someone else to partner with(engineer/programmer)to bring these ideas life. Only thing Ill add: dont ask the programmer to sign a lengthy contract with non disclosure agreements, invention assignment, etc.
