On paper, only one is in positive return territory as a fund, but the SBIC leverage is a substantial negative factor for the LP investors in that particular fund. And, in the other two, I don’t expect to ever see any of my capital back because of the SBIC leverage.

Finally, Fred Destin of Atlas who left London for Boston, threw in his thoughts on Euro VC, which I totally concur with. . It's more of a warning of what I see coming up in the near future for European venture. it in sourcing dealflow or raising capital. There have been responses to this from both VC's and entrepreneurs.

Think about Facebook had it stayed in Boston. But I’ll bet the Boston community would take 50% of the success of Facebook built locally. “If I were starting now, I would have stayed in Boston. ” Boston is still a great tech hub. I went to see several LP funds in Boston. It’s true.
