Conversely if you’re raising $20 million in a C round then you probably shouldn’t be targeting an $80 million fund because they aren’t likely a good fit. One first-pass qualification is “stage.” If you’re raising a seed round (say $1.5m) and the firm you’re talking to manages $1.2 it’s probably not going to be a good fit.
