Several years ago on a Saturday I found myself at Bank of America Corporate Center in Charlotte. I had gone for a three hour run early in the morning on a beautiful spring day in Charlotte and my mind was wandering all over the place. As I entered the ballroom for the event, I encountered 32 young high school women and their parents.

When the phrase “Startup Communities” started to become mainstream around 2012, I made the strong assertion that you could create a startup community in any city with at least 100,000 people. .” While Agent Smith was wrong, I don’t think I am. And then there’s Techstars which is now all over the world.

It doesn’t surprise me that I feel down and flat as I sit here in the Charlotte, North Carolina airport on my way to Lexington, Kentucky on day 16 of a 19 day trip. I’ve had a great time with all the people I’ve been with and the events I’ve had around Startup Communities.

At 7am I had my first MRI at the Boulder Community Hospital. I had a great three hour run in Charlotte the first week of April and thought I was ready to roll. Boulder is fortunate that it has a great community hospital system. I had a new experience today. I was a little nervous, although I’m not entirely sure why.
