CHICAGO BLUES REVIEW: I Can’t Quit the Blues by Buddy Guy - When Chicago and music come to mind, it is the blues they often mention. That big, brash, loud electric style with its horns and guitars and smoky clubs and big personalities put a huge stamp on the world of blues. And one of the biggest influences in the guitar world was Buddy Guy. There were many blues guitar greats, but most rock guitars, especially folks like Clapton and Hendrix will cite Buddy first above all for his tone and his attitude.
I Can’t Quit the Blues was off of one of his earlier recordings A Man and the Blues and his first on the Vanguard label as a lead. It is an album with so many great tracks, but this tune seemed to fit the mood of the morning best. If there is one thing NYC could be jealous of Chicago for, it is definitely blues music and legends like Buddy Guy.
