When I got to college, I did not see myself as a full-time coder, so I majored in biology, which was my favorite subject at the time. My first job out of school was at one of the early bioinformatics companies in Silicon Valley, working as the head of technical services. Graduated with a BS/MS in bio from Stanford.)

In Silicon Valley the equivalent is the journeyman coder or web designer who loves the technology, and takes coding and U/I jobs because it’s a passion. They work as hard as any Silicon Valley entrepreneur. Scalable startups are what Silicon Valley entrepreneurs and their venture investors aspire to build.

Ideally you can pay them based + equity so that you’ll get their attention and focus on the project. have you heard of any luck using outsourced coders from India … or where do you suggest ? I have 2 options: set up a new startup or share my idea with google (or maybe another big silicon valley’s company).

Someone who is egotistical enough to call themselves a rockstar, yet humble enough not to want 99% of the equity? When Zuckerberg started Thefacebook.com he was a PHP coder (translation: not a real developer). A beginner will get things working, but go up the ladder a little and you'll get a coder who has learned how to innovate.

Especially if you aren’t from around Silicon Valley. Also, for the full time coder, you may violate your employee contract especially in the area of non-competes or just plain piss off your boss when he finds out how much time you have been putting into a side project when deadlines were looming.
