10 Signs You Have What It Takes To Be An Inventor

What differentiates those who do have the bones of an inventor from us regular people? See if you’ve got what it takes to invent.

In today’s world, we’re constantly hearing about a new product, platform or idea that promises to cut the clutter and change our lives – and many times, the concepts are so simple in nature that we’re left wondering where our inventive shtick is hiding!

What differentiates those who do have the bones of an inventor from us regular people? Their unique outlook on the world helps them follow their intuition and achieve great things. See if you’ve got what it takes to invent.

1. You’re inquisitive.

How do you know if you’re inquisitive? You are determined to investigate and figure things out. Bred from curiosity, you’re interested in a variety of topics and ask a lot of questions. “I have no particular talent. I am merely inquisitive,” Albert Einstein once humbly stated.

2. You challenge the status quo.

You often consider ways to improve the way things are in an effort to progress and simply make them better. In other words, you’re a problem solver.

3. You’re not afraid of failure.

You’re willing to do anything to get the job done and have given yourself the freedom to accept failure as part of the process. You view challenges as drivers to work harder and your “freedom to fail” gives you the opportunity to collect insights that can eventually lead to success. Thomas Edison famously said, “I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”

4. You’re tenacious.

While successful inventions don’t just come to life overnight, neither do unsuccessful ones! You understand the inventing process is a marathon, not a sprint. When you commit to something, your persistent, long-term perspective helps you stay the course.

5. You’re passionate.

Whether it is about day-to-day life or your future invention, passion fuels your drive to push forward and strive for success. Your constant excitement allows you to have a positive outlook on life, and gives you the energy to focus on the task at hand.

6. You’re positive!

Positivity is an important trait for any individual to embody, but this is especially the case for an inventor. A positive outlook inspires positive events to occur and allows individuals to maintain a broader perspective to see the big picture rather than focusing on the negative.

7. You take initiative.

Inventors are dreamers who take action. They research, find mentors and do whatever it takes to turn their vision into a tangible idea or product. Taking initiative is the only way your invention will go from an idea to reality and have a place in the real world for others to experience.

8. You’re creative.

Creativity is limitless and spontaneous. You think outside of the box in all aspects of your daily life, sometimes resulting in a new invention idea! Not only do you understand the value that creativity holds, such as birthing the next great revolutionary gadget, but this is something you truly enjoy and appreciate.

9. You’re confident.

You realize the potential you possess for success and hold a realistic appreciation of your talents. Your self-confidence allows you to devote your energy to your invention rather than worry about yourself and your invention’s success or failure.

10. You’re honest.

This is perhaps one of the most important traits to maintain. Your invention will never succeed if you are dishonest about its capabilities to the market. Not only are you honest with others, but you’re honest with yourself. You set realistic expectations, yielding the best chances for success. Your honesty creates credibility and trustworthiness with yourself and your inventions.
