SATURDAY JAZZ BRUNCH: Don’t Take Your Love From Me performed by John Coltrane - I realize it may seem like there is an overabundance of Coltrane on the Jazz Brunch, but I needed something comforting this week. That is why the greats are so great, they seem to fit every mood and every time. There is a timelessness to Coltrane’s music that after so many decades since his passing, that he can still sound so relevant and in the moment.
This tune is off the Standard Coltrane album, one of the many Prestige releases that the record label mashed together to cash in on the rising fame of Coltrane after he left the label. While some of the sessions are uneven, this is one that shines and the lushness of the his take on this Henry Nemo ballad is sublime.
