6 ideas to help you get organized and get more done

I spend a lot of time focusing on time optimization and focus. The ability to focus on the right things and “get stuff done” is the difference between mediocrity and greatness.

Since we’re all here to try to accomplish greatness, here are six ways you might consider getting on top of things:

#1 – Identify your personal Operating System

We all have a “way” that works for us. Listen to others and research techniques, and then lock down your OS.

#2 – Become an action-oriented emailer

Email isn’t going anywhere, so be as great at it as possible.

#3 – Be the architect of your calendar

Your calendar should be your guide for how you’re spending your time. Take control of it and bend it to your will :)

#4 – …and consider color-coding your calendar

This is a tip that I love sharing. By color-coding your calendar against the type of activities you’re spending time on, you’ll be able to visually understand if you’re focusing on the right things.

#5 – Let go of the small stuff and focus on the important stuff

At a certain point, your ability to get more done is directly tied to the things you say “no” to. Start saying “no”.

#6 – Find time in your schedule to get more done…start with your commute!

Finding ways to hack time by listening to books or making calls on your commute will help you find time that you didn’t even realize you had.
