Giving Tuesday: How BoardEffect Is Giving Back to Nonprofits

The year 2020 will go down in history as one of the most taxing years of our lifetimes. In addition to the individual struggles, businesses and nonprofit organizations are facing some of the greatest challenges they’ve ever had in their histories. From its earliest days, BoardEffect has always been in tune with the needs of nonprofits. This year, at the time when nonprofits are in great need, BoardEffect is ready to give back.

Revisiting BoardEffect’s History

Let’s revisit our history a bit. BoardEffect was founded in 2007 by a team of web developers that served nonprofits and educational institutions. During the course of their work, they started to see a common thread among the organizations they worked with. Most nonprofits didn’t have the tools or technology to fulfill their work efficiently. Many of them complained about the number of hours they spent assembling board books alone.

The web developers determined to make the duties of the wonderful people they worked with easier by making a program to help them lead their organizations more efficiently and effectively. Together, they worked on a concept for a software program to ease nonprofit board duties, and BoardEffect was born.

BoardEffect Supports Good Governance Practices

The development of BoardEffect was just in time. As businesses came under scrutiny for poor governance practices, nonprofit organizations also came under the limelight, placing great pressure on nonprofit boards and executive directors. The work of nonprofit boards has never been more important. The need to demonstrate good governance remains a high priority today. BoardEffect continues to help nonprofit organizations practice good governance with tools to aid them in their annual cycle, board development cycle, and meeting cycle.

The great work keeps on building as more and more nonprofits realize the benefits of a board management portal. This year, BoardEffect wants to get in on the spirit of Giving Tuesday and help nonprofit organizations even more.

The effects of the pandemic have been palpable. Nonprofits, in particular, are under a great deal of duress. In many cases, nonprofit organizations have absorbed additional emergency responsibilities while be faced with reduced donations and increased operating costs. BoardEffect’s leaders decided that the best way to do their part in lifting a helping hand to the nonprofits they care so deeply for is to offer a Giving Tuesday grant.

They named it simply, We CARE.
