Life can either be enjoyed or wasted, full of happiness or sadness; the choice is always yours.

At any moment you can be at peace or in resistance. After all, life is full of ups and downs. It gives us good moments to enjoy alongside tough moments to endure — moments that reveal our true potential, revive the strength inside us, and help us grow. These same moments can teach us the art of letting go.

Tap into positive energy

“In its simplest usage, positive energy is a bundle of desirable attributes. A person who is enthusiastic, empathic, cheerful, optimistic, courteous, generous, or kind would fit the bill.”

Meanwhile, if you’re familiar with the “Big-Five taxonomy [you] might say a person with positive energy is someone who is extraverted, agreeable, conscientious, emotionally stable, and open to new experience. Again, ‘positive energy’ is simply shorthand for ‘good person.'”

Peace and positive energy go hand in hand. When you are at peace, positive energy brings about positive and productive thoughts. On the other hand, when you resist, you become stuck in negative thinking and negative situations.

The interesting thing about positive energy is that it all comes down to your perception, how you understand and interpret life.

So, let’s dig into 7  tips that can help you attract more positive energy into your life.

1. Start your day with meditation

A simple routine of meditation can do wonders.

Simply focus on the breathing. Just relax and sit in a comfortable position. Focus while you breathe in and breathe out.

Meditation is an exercise in recognizing, understanding, and letting go of thought habits, quieting your mind, and making room in your head for new ways of being, thinking, and receiving,” YFS Magazine contributor Nicole Bevilacqua explains.

“There are a lot of misconceptions about meditation, but at its core it is ‘a practice that takes us beyond the noisy chatter of the mind into a place of stillness and silence.'”

2.

Listen to uplifting music

Music has a tremendous impact on our brain and emotions.”Listening to music at work can make you a happier, more productive employee, especially if it’s music you’ve chosen.” Meanwhile, “science has now proven what music lovers already know, that listening to upbeat music can improve your mood. Listening and playing music reduces chronic stress by lowering the stress hormone cortisol.”

Create a playlist of uplifting songs. Crank up your playlist every morning while you get ready for the day or commute to your office.

3. Greet everyone with a smile

Research confirms that “our brain feels good and tells us to smile, we smile and tell our brain it feels good and so forth.” If you want to have a positive day, spread positivity to others. You never know what someone is going through. A small positive gesture, like a smile, can create a positive feedback loop for yourself and others.

Simply put, “smiling helps to generate more positive emotions within you. That’s why we often feel happier around children – they smile more. On average, they do so 400 times a day. Whilst happy people still smile 40-50 times a day, the average of us only does so 20 times.”

4. Let go of worry

Stop worrying about the future and let go of the past. Work on the things you can control. If you can’t change a situation, let go and stop worrying about it. Worry creates an endless cycle of negative energy and when it is excessive it’s not useful. Moreover, do not let the past ruin your present. Forgive yourself, forgive others and live in the moment.

5. Visualize a positive life

Cultivating a positive life and mindset can be an arduous task. In today’s hectic world it’s easy to let negativity creep in. But focusing on the positivity (and not the negativity) is a choice. And the more you consciously focus on positive outcomes the more it will improve your surroundings.

Begin each morning with visualization of a peaceful and positive day. Practice this for few days and you will be amazed by the results.

6. Accept that you cannot control everything

“Psychologists reinforce the idea that control is a good thing. Research on locus of control indicates that people with an internal locus of control (people who believe they are in control of the rewards they receive in life) are psychologically healthier and more successful than people with an external locus of control (people who believe their fate is in the hands of external, uncontrollable factors). Yet there is a downside to being in control when it involves trying to control other people, because other people don’t want to be controlled by you any more than you want to be controlled by other people.”

You cannot control everything. The only thing you can truly control is yourself. If you try to control a situation that is outside of your own personal influence, you’ll end up stressed out. Sometimes we have to surrender situations that are outside of our control.

7.
Green is good for you

One of the best ways to attract positive energy is to step outside into nature. Go for a morning walk, look at the flowers, trees, grass; breathe in the fresh air. There is a sense of peace that nature exudes. Studies confirm that people, “who are exposed to natural scenes aren’t just happier or more comfortable; the very building blocks of their physiological well-being also respond positively.”
