Friends, what’s your side hustle?

If you are side hustling or you have plans to ramp up a side hustle, I really want to know what (and if you’re willing to share, why).

Oh, and according to the Google, a side hustle is:

A side hustle is a way to make some extra cash that allows you flexibility to pursue what you’re most interested in. It can also be your true passion – a chance to delve into fashion, travel or whatever it is you care about the most without quitting your day job.

By the way, I really, really, really don’t like the idea of a side hustle that you want to actually create into a big business. I believe you have to be “all in” if you want to really start something like that. I would rather you save up and then start the business…its why this blog is called Begin the Begin! So, we can debate that here as well.

I’m just super interested in those that have side hustles, what and why?!

My side hustle is my writing. I write romantic fiction as well as building a nonfiction writing blog and freelance writing business. I do it because I love writing and I have 4 and a half year plan (started as a five year) to get out of corporate America and into my own business as a small publishing press. By that time, I hope to have most of my debt paid off and my child will be out of college. (yikes! I actually just thought of that. Wow.). But the goal is to make a living with my writing and have multiple streams of income (both active and passive) and not be the starving artist. In this age of indie publishing, I don’t believe a writer has to starve anymore. But it is a long tail game and patience is key as is some thinking outside the box, mixed with focus and hard work.

I don’t strive to be the next Random House. I only want to live the lifestyle I want doing what I love. If I become a millionaire along the way, that’s fine too! ;-)

My side hustle is writing as well! This includes my blog and my first finished book (April 2017) Path Of The Freelancer: An Actionable Guide To Flourishing In Freelancing. Next Year, I’ll be writing my second book, Path Of The Founder: A Roadmap For Success In Business – My why is driven by my desire to help others in areas I’ve mastered while also moving towards generating an income from my writing.

My side hustle is dentistry. It’s a great way to earn a little extra cash, and I like the creativity it affords.

Mine is a personal finance blog. I decided to get more involved with my own finances like I’ve always wanted to and then start sharing what I learn in a blog. This will not only help me remember what I’m learning but also will help others in the same boat.

LOL, that’s what I always look for in a dentist – that its a part time thing and that they’re super creative.
