4 Powerful Ways To Slay The Self-Doubt That Sabotages You

Every entrepreneur has doubts about their ability to make it big, be a success, and change the world, but self-doubt is the troll under the bridge that will keep you from even trying.

In his inspirational book The Light in the Heart, Roy T. Bennett shares, “Don’t let others tell you what you can’t do. Don’t let the limitations of others limit your vision. If you can remove your self-doubt and believe in yourself, you can achieve what you never thought possible.”

If self-doubt is preventing you from being successful in your business, here are 4 ways you can slay that doubt for good:

1. Create your environment consciously from the inside

Nothing happens in the outer world without first having been dreamed up on the inside.

Dr. Wayne Dyer wrote about the importance of imagination, “Look around you. Everything that you can experience with your senses was once in someone’s imagination. This is the great truth that you must come to realize for yourself. In order for something to get into this world where things exist and are proved, they must first be placed firmly into your imagination.”

When you allow your self-doubt to create your environment, you’ll get chaos, struggle, and pain. When you override those automatic thoughts with empowering ideas, you overlay a more pleasant life experience of joy, fun, and success. You do this by self-correcting.

2. Self-correct all disempowering thoughts immediately

The moment you notice your thoughts wandering off into the woods of defeat, stop what you’re doing and pause. Pause your movement, your thoughts, everything. Acknowledge that you’re not going to entertain that thought and replace it with something that supports you.

If self-doubt says you can’t do something, do it anyway. If you can’t stop the inner chatter, there’s nothing stopping you from acting anyway. Be defiant. Just do it.

Vincent Van Gogh once said, “If you hear a voice within you say you cannot paint, then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced.”

3. Surround yourself with the right imagery

Every day you are surrounded by imagery in your home or office environment. You might have photos of loved ones on the wall, beautiful places, painted scenery, sports heroes, saints, or people you admire.

Every day is an opportunity to surround yourself with imagery that will keep you focused on your dream. What you put on your walls and your desk matters.

Personalize your environment to stay focused

You don’t need to buy expensive subliminal messaging programs to benefit from subliminal imagery. Every image in your environment is reaching you subliminally, whether you realize it or not. Everything from the books on your desk to the photos and calendar on your wall is being seen by your subconscious.

Personalizing your environment puts you in charge of what your subconscious sees. Here are some ideas:

? Get Intently – a browser extension that replaces intrusive advertisements with inspirational imagery of your choice (even on Facebook).

? Put your favorite inspiration on a calendar instead of looking at firefighters or puppies. They may be cute, but cute won’t get you results!

? Use Flux to minimize or eliminate the blue light from your computer screen. Blue light suppresses melatonin, shifts your circadian rhythm, and makes you grumpy.

4. Use affirmations to generate a new “common thought”

Casually uttering positive statements all day long like a broken record isn’t going to get results. Affirmations are not magic words that will change your life by speaking them. It’s not the words that change your life – it’s your ability to transform them into common thought.

For example, if you believe money takes hard work to earn, that’s a belief, not the truth. However, it’s your common thought, so you can’t escape working hard to earn money. Until you change your belief, your common thought won’t change. Until your common thought changes, your experience of reality won’t change.

The right way to use affirmations

For affirmations to work, you need to be completely present with the words you speak. Observe the words as you speak them, and feel the vibration as you speak. Be so present with your words that nothing else exists.

When you wake up in the morning, before you get out of bed, spend fifteen minutes affirming your day will be productive and joyful. Over time, your affirmations will become your new common thought and your reality will adjust to match your dreams!
