Rails allows XML documents to include YAML attributes. That decision has caused a bit of head scratching, since it seems like a curious choice for most programmers in the community, but be that as it may this allowed posting XML at Rails apps to be trivially exploited. I was up at 3 AM Japan time applying these patches, twice.

We repurposed that field to optionally include some XML describing an on-screen dialog box. We tacked on a feature to the IMVU client that worked like this: whenever the client called home to report a data-warehousing event, we used to have a useless return field (the client doesnt care if the event was successfully recorded).
