Needless to say I think Ryan is one of the most talented engineering leads in LA but I’d stack him against anybody in the Valley, too.

The two most ambitious projects were ThereNow and IQ Engines. Still, I think that to succeed they really need to focus on vertical niches where they can differentiate and have more focus on content quality and user acquisition. I wrote about how to give demos in a previous post. I for one will be routing for them, though.

And I’m a big believer in vertical use cases (in additional to more generalized platforms for sharing content). I know we will be retailer friendly rather than becoming the lost-common-denominator comparison shopping engine. That’s why companies like Twitter have been so successful.
