Today we are very happy to announce that legendary Silicon Valley Venture Capitalist, Tim Draper, is joining us as a speaker at Arctic15, to share his experience and insights with the next generation of entrepreneurs and savvy investors.
Tim is well known to help entrepreneurs drive their visions through funding, education, media, and government reform. He has founded thirty Draper venture funds, Draper University, Bizworld, and two statewide initiatives to improve governance and education. He is the creator of viral marketing – a marketing method for spreading a software application from customer to customer, instrumental to the successes of Hotmail and Skype among hundreds of others including Gmail and Yahoo! Mail.
Draper’s own investments have included Skype and Baidu. He has also invested heavily in bitcoin on the belief that it might one day be the preeminent store of value for investors

Investment in Finland
In 2014 Tim’s fund, Draper Associates invested in a Finnish cleantech startup Enevo alongside with Earlybird, Lifeline Ventures, Teollisuussijoitus, and Nokia Chairman Risto Siilasmaa. Back then in an interview Tim commented:
“Enevo has identified huge inefficiencies in an old fashioned gigantic industry that has not yet been touched by technology and we believe the waste management industry is ripe for disruption. Enevo is transforming the entire waste collection industry, just like Uber did for the taxi industry and Airbnb for the hotel industry.”

Tim founded Draper Associates in July 1985, and when John Fisher and Steve Jurvetson joined it became the venture capital firm Draper Fisher Jurvetson (now DFJ). Their investments include Skype, Hotmail, Tesla, Baidu, Theranos, and Overture, among many others. With Draper Associates, investments include Twitch.TV, YeePay, Indiegogo, Docusign, Parametric Technology and AngelList.
He also founded the DFJ/Draper Network, a global network of venture funds who work together to improve service to entrepreneurs, covering 30 cities around the world.
He has been listed as #46 of the most outstanding Harvard alumni, #7 on the Forbes Midas List, #1 Most Networked Venture Capitalist by Always On, and #98 on the 2014 Worth Magazine 100 Most Powerful People in Finance. He has won numerous awards and honors and is regularly featured in the press as a leading supporter of entrepreneurship.
