Still, I believe I’m offering an accurate representation of the ideal configuration of the main technology leaders. Your deepest thinkers on technology architecture are seldom good team leaders.

It is often the fortuitous mixture of new technologies, customer awareness and then acceptance of the technology and then the slow adoption into our daily lives that leads to markets exploding. We technology leaders also make this mistake. Markets develop for a complex set of factors that are often beyond all of our control.

The chosen candidate will probably have worked for a very reputable firm that is either in technology, consulting, investment banking, media or a startup. He heads their business development practice and they have been very active in incubating, investing in and helping grow LA startups. Are you merging? It was nearly identical.

Uh, I guess he won’t be co-sponsoring a technology lab in LA with me then? These kinds of office space arrangement are often called “technology incubators&# or “startup labs&# or something similar. The latest technology lab that I came across was dogpatch labs run by Polaris Ventures.

We’ve had an explosion of alternate sources of financing from crowd-sourcing, angels, accelerators, incubators, corporates, corporate incubators. An impressive number of new VCs have been created – most of them with new seed funds. And importantly we’ve had revenue.

Back in 2006/07 when I sold my company and then worked at Salesforce.com there were very few options in SF for technology folk to build their careers at big, growing companies. Technology innovation doesn’t occur in a vacuum. And sci-fi writers are but one example of the way society impacts technology. Today there’s many.

The frantic pace of technology cycles, the amount of tech news, the blogs, the conferences, the demo days, the announcements, the fundings, the IPOs. ” And then there are incubators and accelerators. Somehow the world seems to be spinning faster these days than just a few years ago. It’s exhausting. Perhaps unsustainable.
