“Choking in China: Beijing Suffers Amid Deadly Smog” via BloombergBusinessweek
I remember living in Beijing and experiencing days when the smog was so bad you could not see across the street. This picture actually does not look so bad in comparison. The worst though would be the times when dust storms would blow in from the northwest deserts of Mongolia and blanket the city for days in a suffocating cloud of sand and pollution.
Things improved briefly for the Olympics, but since then Beijing has returned to business as usual. I hope for the sake of its citizens that China does something to address the debilitating air pollution that is severely impacting the health of the people and the environment.
