“Ed I. Koch, Ex-Mayor, Dies” via The New York Times
If you grew up in NYC during the 80’s, Koch loomed larger than any other public figure at the time. In a city that was on the brink of total economic collapse, engulfed in a crime wave, and spiraling out of control, he was able to steady the ship and give hope to NY'ers that the city could be saved.
