Exercises in Futility 1 by Mgla - Since we kicked off the week with Polish metal, maybe this could be a theme this week. There are certainly no short supply of great metal bands out of Poland, from power metal all the way to the most extreme strands of metal out there.
Mgla has been a standout of the black metal variety, particularly their 2012 album With Hearts Toward None. Their followup Exercise in Futility though is even better and in many circles had been talked up as 2015 best metal album of the year. This has the old school black ‘n roll feel, but everything here sounds fresh and catchy as hell. The lead track though is the real star of this album, one of the best tracks of last year.
