Portfolio Review: Q1 2022

Spring is here, and we’re well into 2022! As always, there’s never a dull moment in the Version One family. Here are some of the many (public) highlights across the portfolio. 

Fundraising announcements

Carbon marketplace start-up NCX raised a $50M Series B. With the funding, they’ll be launching in Canada and Mexico, enabling businesses to monitor their carbon offset purchases with satellite precision.

Blockchain infra startup Tenderly raised $40M Series B in funding from Spark Capital –  just months after closing on its Series A.

Travel experiences app Headout raised a $30M round, led by prior investor Glade Brook Capital. The COVID-19 pandemic has been particularly hard on the travel industry, but Headout is coming out of the Omicron surge strong! 

Stacks founder Muneeb Ali and his team raised $150M for a new entity to build the largest ecosystem of BTC applications called Trust Machines. You can read about it here.

Accolades

HR leaders from Ada and Jobber were recognized by Business Insider on their Top 25 HR Leaders list. Psst, they are both hiring! 

Dapper Labs was named one of Fast Company’s most innovative companies of 2022 (#1 in most innovating gaming companies). Read its story here.

Vladik Rikhter, CEO of Zenput, was named one of the most influential suppliers and vendors in the country by Nation’s Restaurant News readers. 

Product launches

Coinbase wallet now supports Ethereum and Solana

Defined now offers NFT support.

Shippo announced Shippo for Platforms, a new product launching with Shopify as their first platform partner.

Cape Privacy launched a self-service platform for running predictions on encrypted data in Snowflake. Sign up for early access here.
