One of Asia’s biggest regional technology and startup blogs just got bigger – Tech in Asia (Techinasia.com) just announced its acquisition of fellow Singapore-based tech blog SGEntrepreneurs (SGE) for an undisclosed sum, entrenching itself as one of the leading English language blogs covering the technology scene in Asia.

Founded in 2005 by Gwendolyn Regina Tan, Bernard Leong, and Lai Wei Chang, SGEntrepreneurs has been a leading light and key resource for many Singapore-based startup entrepreneurs, and its prominence peaked when it hosted then presidential candidate – and now President of Singapore – Dr Tony Tan for an open fireside chat session with local entrepreneurs in 2011. Co-founder Tan and editor Terence Lee will join Tech in Asia’s editorial team.

“We had many small coffee chats with Gwen and her team which slowly led to today’s acquisition,” said Tech in Asia founder Willis Wee. “We admire SGE’s spirit of producing quality content with a very small team. Both Gwen and Terence will certainly fit well in our company culture and we’re looking forward to working with them.” Tan similarly expressed enthusiasm about the new partnership. “We’ve always admired Tech in Asia’s output and speed of growth. We are looking forward to working more closely,” she affirmed.

This merger likely makes Tech in Asia the largest technology blog in Southeast Asia, edging it ahead of fellow Singapore-based technology blog e27, which organizes annual startup event Echelon, itself a competitor of Tech in Asia’s similarly themed event Startup Asia.
