5 Lifestyle Hacks To Get Unstuck And Back On Track

There comes a point in life, and business, when we suddenly feel directionless. It seems like we are living the same hackneyed day over and over again.

There comes a point in life, and business, when we suddenly feel directionless. It seems like we are living the same hackneyed day over and over again.

For many of us, especially entrepreneurs, there is nothing more dreaded than becoming staid and bogged down by mindless monotony. Every life is precious, and as the saying goes — YOLO! (a.k.a. You Only Live Once).

If you are stuck in a rut, or feel as though things have taken a major detour, it’s time for serious reevaluation. So, here are a few tips to help you take stock of your current situation, get back on the road, and improve your lifestyle standard incrementally.

1. Face your fears

More often than not, our fears hold us back. Questions like:

  • Will this jeopardize my business?
  • Should I invest in this stock?
  • Should I postpone my vacation?

Uncertainty and procrastination are frequently the reason why we feel stuck — going nowhere fast. At this juncture, it’s simply wise to pin down your fears, have an honest conversation with yourself, analyze the true risk, and make a decision as soon as possible.

2. Take charge of life and business

Without even realizing when it happened, we often surrender the reigns of our lives to others or even circumstances. When others dictate our lives and businesses, there is a good possibility we will be exploited and taken advantage of.

If you find yourself in this scenario, it is time to take stock of your reality and consider why you are not in charge, responsibility, and full accountability.

For example, don’t insist that “you’re a victim of unfortunate circumstances. While there will certainly be consequences for the decisions you make, acknowledge that you always have choices.” A feeling of liberty, confidence, and independence, even if it is laced with uncertainty, will be the reward for taking the driver’s seat. Life should be about empowerment and not cowering in fear.

3. Change direction and invest in new passions

While this may sound truly terrifying, but pivoting into a new industry or new side business may be the pathway to a more fulfilling and contented personal and work life.

People often make the wrong business and career choices as they are influenced by others or “stumble upon” work that simply isn’t fulfilling. It’s never too late to change track. Consider continuing education courses. Perhaps you’ve always dreamed of being a professional trader, running a hedge fund, or leaning into your creative passions as an author and poet? None of those avenues are closed. The trick lies in mastering the courage to start anew.

4. Become financially wise

Let money grow. This advice applies to both compulsive spenders as well as spendthrifts. Increasing money is not the same as saving up money. The very knowledge that you have a decent sum of money stashed away safely that is steadily growing brings peace of mind and tranquility. It ensures stability. Making wise investments can ensure there’s a pot to dip into in an hour of crisis or need.

5. Get moving

A lack of exercise and poor eating habits are at the root of many illnesses –– both physical and mental. Exercise elevates mood and helps us stay fit. The right food choices can also cement well-being. It’s hard to chase dreams and follow your passions when failing healthy leads to anxiety and misery.

Yoga and meditation are also good practices to teach your body and mind to relax. These activities can wash away stress and anxiety, leaving you feeling naturally high (without alcohol, nicotine, drugs, etc.).

Lifestyle improvements happen incrementally. These hacks are easy to consider but harder to implement. It takes focus, determination, and courage — qualities where people often have vast reserves.
