Here’s a problem: worldwide, there aren’t enough radiologists to meet patient needs.

Enter Radiobotics, which serves hospitals, radiologists, orthopedic surgeons and, in the end, patients by automating medical image analysis, resulting in faster turnaround and fewer diagnostic errors. Its algorithms are easy to integrate into existing workflows and are highly scalable.

Founded in Copenhagen, Denmark, in September 2017, Radiobotics recently received approval to sell its products across Europe. Supported by both private investors and public funds, including the Innovation Fund Denmark and the EU’s Horizon 2020 program, Radiobotics has the goal to be at the forefront of developing innovative health technology and a mission to develop solutions that benefit both physicians and patients on a global scale.

Representing Denmark’s first SXSW Pitch finalist, co-founder and COO Stine Mølgaard Sørensen will pitch Radiobotics in the category Health, Wearables & Wellbeing Technology, (5 to 6 pm Sunday, March 15) before a panel of expert judges and a live audience.

Winners in each of the 10 categories will be announced at the Pitch Awards Ceremony, at 6:30 pm Sunday, March 15. SXSW attendees are also invited to Meet the Finalists from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm Monday, March 16. All SXSW Pitch events take place at the Hilton Austin Downtown.

Sørensen, who is also a co-author of Fuck It, Ship It, shared some thoughts about life in Denmark and her startup experience.

What is your top goal for Radiobotics in 2020?
To prove we’re creating substantial value for hospitals and patients. This will be done through multicenter clinical trials, launching more products, and closing our funding round.

Tell us your favorite thing about being in Copenhagen.
Whenever I go abroad, I miss my bike a lot. In Copenhagen, it’s so easy to go around the city by bike. It’s such a privilege to live in such a vibrant city. I also miss eating rugbrød (the Danish word for dark rye bread).

With the exception of Radiobotics, what tech trend is your team most excited about?
The advancements within ML and Deep Learning, and the fact that there’s still much to be explored within this area.

What was the most over-hyped tech trend of 2019?
I think the word AI is over-hyped. I’d rather talk about Augmented Intelligence, which I believe fits the current situation better.

If you weren’t working for Radiobotics, what would you be doing?
Writing more books and investing in other startups.

What has the startup experience taught you about life?
Fuck it, ship it!

Which living person do you most admire and why?
My older sister Malene Mølgaard is an endless source of motivation and inspiration.

What do you think is the most overrated virtue?
Work hard, play hard.

Which talent would you most like to have?
Coding skills.

What’s your actual super power?
Getting shit done.

What’s the best advice you’ve ever gotten?
My grandmother always said: “Everything will be alright.”

What do you do when you are low on energy?
I go for a ride on my bike and get some fresh air.

Tell us about a memorable celebrity encounter.
I attended the Obama talk at SXSW in 2016. It was extremely inspiring.

If you were offered the opportunity to colonize Mars (but with no guarantee that you would ever return to earth), would you go?
I would stay, there’s still so much to be done on planet Earth.

Tell us about something you love.
I have a great passion for penguins and I’m on a mission to see all 18 different species — so far I’ve seen 10.

Look for more interviews with other finalists in this space between now and the start of SXSW Pitch on Saturday, March 14. So far, installments in this series have covered Intvo, an AI-software designed to improve traffic safety, and Sapient, a smart outlet system that saves energy.

If you are an entrepreneur, check out the SXSW 2020 Startups Track, which runs March 13–17. This track brings together founders and funders and showcases exciting new companies, products, services, and business models across different verticals and industries.
