Page360 awesome post W3 Consulting Note: you can have multiple domain names: one for conventional (and one for emotional) branding purposes, several for SEO/SEM purposes, and several for Web analytics (where are my *offline* advertising dollars breeding positive ROI?). I'd be happy to sign an nda. My company name is forever!

As for the employer, I would say don't compete with your employer and don't come close to using any IP of theirs. I was also searching for a new job and next week I will start work for a new employer and in their NDA I have mentioned the name of my incorporated company as "prior invention/copyright work".

Vendor long-list - build a “long-list&# of possible software vendors and NDA them all, but don‚Äôt rely on it (more on this later). We are on the high end of the range, and I think expecting less would be unrealistic unless you are building something really simple (and therefore with limited inherent IP).

The market price is less than the inconvenience of signing an NDA. But its hard to raise money with an IP cloud over your head, becauseinvestors cant judge how serious it is. Before you consummate a startup, ask everyone about their previous IP history. As if to emphasize the point, Google never did any advertising.
