Don’t be embarrassed, since even professional investors are often confused these days by the new terms, as well as old terms used with new meanings. For angel investors, early-stage means there is a good business plan and maybe a prototype, but no customer revenue. Every startup is early-stage to someone. Lean startup.

The internet has a ton of open-source software and other free services you can use for your business. You should also consider getting investments, either through crowdsourcing platforms or via the traditional way of pitching to an angel investor. Use Free Online Resources.

However, until there is one standardized set of documents that everyone – especially the various law firms agree on – I don’t expect there to really be a standardized set of seed financing documents.
