I came to the EDA at the very end of 1983, after working for a decade for Arlington County. At that time, development in Arlington was slowing down, while Fairfax County, which had a lot of land for development was becoming much more aggressive about attracting and retaining businesses and jobs, and generating wealth.

The Navy’s was called CSAW ( Communications Supplemental Activity Washington ) also known as OPS-20-G. The Army codebreaking group was the Signal Intelligence Service (SIS) at Arlington Hall. The Army focused on decrypting (breaking/decoding) Japan’s diplomatic and Army codes while the Navy worked on breaking Japan’s Naval codes.

This evening, I was able to work with Arlington Economic Development and Amplifier Ventures in putting on a 3D Printing Venture Camp event at GMU’s Arlington Campus. Dan Wilson of TechShop and Brian Jacoby of Nova-Labs, both hacker spaces, exhibited and sat on our panel. A lot of people in urban settings don’t have that.”.

Start an event or project. You can attract technical talent simply by being known as an outstanding, generous, helpful business person.
