Will your co-worker be a robot? Will you be hired by a robot? Will you even meet your co-workers IRL? Technology is impacting ever more aspects of the workplace. If you missed any of these sessions in person at SXSW 2018, listen and learn from experts on the front lines of future careers.

Virtual Culture: The Way We Work Doesn’t Work Anymore. Work from home? Is it a fad or here to stay? Many leaders and organizations feel like “deer in the headlights” when it comes to addressing the growing demands and expectations of workers who want to work from home or in some remote capacity. Leaders can address this opportunity head on by creating a great virtual culture. Learn from the experience of Belay founders who grew a 600+ all-virtual team with no office. They shared their best practices and ideas to develop a meaningful virtual culture that landed them in the #1 spot for Top Company Culture with Entrepreneur Magazine in 2017.

The Future of AI and Hiring. AI is revolutionizing the way we manage talent. For decades, people were hired based on a recruiter’s six-second impression of a resume, leading to a dismal ~50% retention rate after the first year and documented bias against women, minorities and people with a lower SES. Frida Polli, co-founder + CEO of pymetrics, and Tatiana Goldberg, Director of Leadership Development at Unilever, discussed how neuroscience, gamification, and applied AI are diversifying and disrupting the labor market.

Sci-fi to Reality: The Future of AI in the Workplace. People spend 2.5 hours/day searching for information, pointing to enormous friction in the flow of using it. Imagine a workflow that prioritizes what you need to do based on the people you collaborate with or action items that are sent from meeting notes. Anirban Kundu, Chief Technology Officer at Evernote, led this session that dove into trends and technologies like machine learning and AI that are evolving to connect data from many sources and infer deeper insights into patterns of thinking, to usher in a new era of workplace productivity.
