195K for Startups in the Rhode Island Business Plan Competition

From the New England Business Bulletin, an announcement regarding a statewide business plan competition.

PROVIDENCE — The Rhode Island Business Plan Competition is launching its 2011 competition with a kick-off event to be held Oct. 27 to introduce and explain the competition. Organized along two tracks, the competition includes a student track for people enrolled in college or graduate school and an entrepreneur track for everyone else, whether or not they already have started a business.

At the kick-off event, winners and finalists in the 2010 competition, who took home more than $195,000 in prizes, will share their experiences and tell how they have fared since winning.

Winners of the 2011 competition will be announced in May at Business Expo 2011 in Providence.

The event, which is free to the public, will be held from 5 — 6:30 p.m. at the Rhode Island Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship in Providence. Pre-registration is required and may be completed online at http://www.ri-bizplan.com.
