(Austin, TX) — The Startup world requires stepping outside of your comfort zone, the ability to take risks, resilience, innovation, and equal measures of planning and improvisation. Many of these traits are listed in The 10 most in-demand skills of 2019, according to LinkedIn. But this list of super-skills isn’t exclusive to Startups — the creative spark is alive and thriving within the Arts Community. The professionals of imaginative play at Zach Theatre have been providing thousands of children with these very skills through performing arts workshops, classes, and camps for more than 30 years.

“How can parents prepare kids for a world of technology we cannot even imagine? Nurture creativity.”

Nurturing creativity is key, writes Byron Sanders, chief executive of Big Thought in Dallas. The creative skills prevalent in arts-rich educational programing prepare students for success not only in the creative economy, but in the business world at large. “Skills really matter the most,”Janelle Gale, Facebook’s vice president of human resources, tells CNBC Make It here.

“It’s incredible to see the creative ability of children in action.” says ZACH Theatre Education Associate Director, Chad Dike. “Performing arts classes help strengthen a child’s confidence in their ability to innovate and communicate. They learn to be fearless with their ideas and generous in their collaboration.”

Fast Company lists resilience as one of the most critically required skills for the jobs of the future. “Employees who do this are priceless because they accelerate a culture of business innovation in the workplace,” says Charlotte Westerhaus-Renfrow, clinical assistant professor of management and business law at Indiana University Kelley School of Business.

Veterans of Zach Theatre Education programs have something in common with the entrepreneurs of the startup community — they know the value of collaboration, the importance of resilience, and the thrill of presenting their own ideas to an audience, a customer, and their co-creators.

Zach Theatre Education offer the range of programs for children as young as one year old, all the way through high school with year-long classes in addition to school break camps and workshops. Spring Break Camp and Summer Break Camp registration is open now. More information can be found at ZACHTheatre.org
