(Austin, TX) — From a just-opened storefront located at 1632 South 1st Street, Austin, TX, local startup MOD BIKES introduces a fresh crop of new electric bicycle models. Electric scooters have opened people’s minds to a new mode of transportation, and electric bikes are the next step in greening up every-day trips and commutes. MOD BIKES creates innovative, reliable, and eco-friendly electric bicycles to get you out of traffic and let you explore your city from a fresh perspective. Standard, pedal-assist, and fully electric handling modes on each model offer commuters an environmentally friendly alternative to traveling by car while cruising at up to 25 mph, for up to 60 miles with a single charge. Easy-to-use, pollutant-free, and low-maintenance, MOD BIKES combine old-school values, future vision, and a crisp aesthetic to meet the mobility needs of the moment. All new MOD BIKES models are designed and engineered by Co-Founder Dor Falu Korngold and inspired by bike culture in green-minded European cities like Berlin and Copenhagen where a majority of city-dwellers commute to work by bike.
“I want to get people out of their cars. You see the city and engage with the community differently when traveling by bike. We need reliable, easy transportation options that lessen our dependance on gasoline and get us out of traffic,” Korngold says.
With partners Mike Cherches and Yaniv Darhan, MOD BIKES aims to encourage more every-day travel by bike.
On the bikes, a self-contained display and control panel provide speed, charge status, trip length and more. Customization options include a speed governor and password protected security lock option for the electrical components. Integrated USB charging port, hydraulic brakes, front and rear safety lights, and leather trim all come standard. With models ranging from a 45lb compact foldable to the weightier off-road-capable commuter or a cool beach cruiser with side-car, there’s a model for all riders. The MOD BIKES storefront also carries cycling accessories and houses an on-site service shop to meet riders’ maintenance needs without delay or third-party involvement.
GRAND OPENING BLOCK PARTY
MOD BIKES will hold a Grand Opening Block Party event on Saturday, October 20, 2018 from 3pm to 7pm. Friends and neighbors will gather to celebrate the store opening with music, food, drinks and test-drives.
