The strength and diversity of the Central Texas startup ecosystem means that there’s always notable startup news in Austin. A few of the most interesting announcements from June are as follows:
Newchip
Financial services startup Newchip announced on their two year anniversary that its marketplace exceeded 50,000 individual users, and that the company closed its latest $2 million seed funding round.
Impact Hub Community Showcase
Coworking space and social innovation leader Impact Hub Austin announced a “Community Showcase Day” for their Workforce Development Accelerator, where nine Austin teams spent three months creating solutions to Austin’s workforce challenges. This event will take place Monday, June 25 from 6-8:30 p.m. at Impact Hub Monroe St. (411 W. Monroe St., Austin, Texas 78704). The event will be free and open to the community. Latinitas Startup Chica Conference
The Latinitas Startup Chica conference for girls age 9–18 is happening this October 27, 2018. The conference will focus on teaching, inspiring and encouraging students to enter the business world by becoming leaders and entrepreneurs while fostering their ideas and talents. Latinitas is looking for professionals who can share their expertise at the event. Strangeworks
Austin-based quantum computing startup Strangeworks recently closed a $4 million seed round. Strangeworks, which publicly launched by CEO William Hurley (aka whurley) during SXSW 2018, makes quantum computing accessible by building and delivering tools for software developers and researchers.
