Texas Startups Roadshow goes Virtual during Global Entrepreneurship Week
Take a statewide virtual tour across the 10th largest economy in the world with the Texas Startups Roadshow, during Global Entrepreneurship Week. You will make valuable connections with the country’s top tech entrepreneurs, innovators and investors. The journey will showcase startups from Dallas, Houston, San Antonio, Austin, and surrounding cities — closing with the Big Idea Competition presented by The University of Texas at Dallas, The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, and Lyda Hill Philanthropies.
Who should attend the roadshow?
- Investors from around the country who have their eye on Austin, Dallas, Houston, and San Antonio.
- Investors from across Texas who you can co-invest with.
- The top seed-stage tech and consumer startups in Texas.
Why are we doing this?
Global Entrepreneurship Week (GEW), is the world’s most extensive collection of business/entrepreneurial events, competitions, and activities in 170+ countries.
We’re launching our virtual Texas Startups Roadshow (November 17–19) within GEW to showcase and elevate the Texas innovation ecosystem on the world stage while connecting startups with local and out-of-state investors. Watch the video below to learn more about how we connected investors and startups across Texas during our 2019 Texas Startups Roadshow.
What will we do on the virtual roadshow?
- Hear from entrepreneurs who have raised the biggest funding rounds.
- Find out who the super-connectors are that you need to know.
- Curated meetings with local startups who are fundraising.
- Meet local investors who you can co-invest with.
- Dallas Big Idea Competition with UT Dallas and UT Southwestern.
Thirteen startup companies have been selected to compete in the Big Idea Competition (BIC), a Shark Tank-style pitch competition hosted annually by The University of Texas at Dallas’ Institute for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
The BIC brings together the best undergraduate and graduate students from all disciplines, alongside top research faculty and alumni, to pitch the most innovative startups and ideas to a panel of esteemed judges. The program typically draws more than 800 attendees each year and this year will award more than $200,000 in scholarship awards and cash prizes.
Mark Cuban, co-star on ABC’s “Shark Tank,” owner of the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks and Author of “How to Win at the Sport of Business,” will deliver the keynote at the Big Idea Competition on November 19.
