Come manage the Mentor Network at Capital Factory
Lead a team responsible for 10,000 life-changing connections per year between all of the entrepreneurs and investors in Texas.
Entrepreneurs are people who change the world and make it better. Entrepreneurship is inherently infused with purpose and impact. Technology has democratized entrepreneurship and made it accessible to more people than ever before. Our society faces some of the biggest challenges in history and we believe that technology and entrepreneurship are essential to solving them.
Capital Factory is all about helping entrepreneurs and we do it in many different ways. We run a coworking space, host meetups and events, and have a fund to invest in the startups that we help. Every day we host dozens of “office hours” meetings between entrepreneurs and people from our mentor network who can help them. As part of the Texas Startup Manifesto, we are expanding the mentor network from Austin to all of Texas, starting with our partners The DEC in Dallas, Geekdom in San Antonio and other partners in Houston.
The mentor network is the soul of Capital Factory. It’s our reason for existence and the glue that binds everything else together. It makes a huge impact on a daily basis and builds life-long friendships and business partnerships. The mentors are volunteers who pay-it-forward to help first time entrepreneurs get their chance to make a dent in the universe.
Capital Factory’s mission hinges on meaningful personal relationships. Most companies “ring the bell” and celebrate when they close a big sale. We celebrate making a great connection between entrepreneurs and investors or other people who can help them. That makes this one of the most important positions at Capital Factory.
It’s hard to overstate how important personal relationships are in business and in life. The right introduction can help an entrepreneur to find their co-founder, hire their first employee, meet their first customer, or close their first investor. You will introduce local entrepreneurs to people like President Barack Obama, Apple CEO Tim Cook, and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella. These are the introductions that change lives.
These relationships become your relationships. You’ll interact directly with the CEO’s of all of the most exciting startup companies in Texas as well as all of the venture capitalists. After you do a great job in this role, you will have your choice of many other opportunities to choose from when it’s time to think about what’s next. You will lead and grow a team across Austin, Dallas, Houston and San Antonio who are passionate about entrepreneurs and mentorship. You will be the internal product manager for UNION, the online platform we use to schedule office hours and match entrepreneurs up with the right opportunities. You will work with startup entrepreneurs, prominent CEO’s, venture capitalists, government officials, the press, and celebrities to match them up with the right people at the right time.
All of our mentors are VIP’s. They are busy executives who are volunteering precious time to help our community and we need to make sure it is a fun and efficient experience for them. Our goal is to provide the type of service you might expect from the Four Seasons or Tiffany’s. We sweat the small stuff. We respect their time. We do whatever it takes and do it with style.
