Today is the day that eight hopeful startups got to pitch their ideas to investors at startup accelerator Springboard’s Internet of Things (IoT) demo day in Cambridge, England. The eighth is currently operating in stealth mode (yes, even on demo day) but we’re digging to find out more about them.

We held a 90-minute demo session where 150 of LA’s VC’s and senior technology executives watched the LPLA V2 group present in small groups of 12-15 each. AwesomeBox : AwesomeBox is currently in stealth mode so I’ll respect that. Thursday night was the unveiling of the newest batch of Launchpad LA companies.

Our defense department and intelligence community owned proprietary advanced tools and technology. We and our contractors had the best technology domain experts. We used these tools to keep pace with the Soviet threats and eventually used silicon, semiconductors and stealth to create an offset strategy to leapfrog their military.

How is the technology? (5) While most incubators’ class end dates fall around the respective incubator’s demo day, what type of support will you receive post-demo day from the incubator and/or the mentors? It’s not really a demo day if only friends and family show up.

Investors sitting through Incubator or Accelerator demo days have three metrics to judge fledgling startups – 1) great looking product demos, 2) compelling PowerPoint slides, and 3) a world-class team. We now have the tools, technology and data to take incubators and accelerators to the next level. We think we can do better.
