At night I had a group dinner where I met 6 new entrepreneurs and hung out with some old friends from law firms, banks and other VC funds. I raced home to put my kids to bed, say hello to my wife and then spend a grueling administrative hour doing email. I know you emailed me and I emailed you back. But it’s only Tuesday.
This is going to be BIG.

It’s really difficult for me not to get into the thick of discussions about whether or not you can and/or should build a company in New York City. If your first resort when you have trouble raising money is to complain about New York on a tech blog, you’re really doing yourself a disservice in the relationship building area.

As a seed-focused venture firm with offices in New York and Boston, we believe there’s a responsibility for us to not just be participants in the local entrepreneurial community, but also contributors to it. I had a better one when I came back from New York. I was in New York last week teaching my annual 5-day version of the Lean LaunchPad class at the Columbia Business School. New York Startups. Michael Bloomberg has yet to get his due for engineering the New York entrepreneurial ecosystem.
