The BP oil spill in the Gulf, the volcanic eruption in Iceland, and recent earthquakes in Haiti and Chile, all suggest that real opportunities for change are needed in pollution control, just-in-time manufacturing, and building materials. I hear this term every day, wrongly applied to new user interfaces, or a new search engine.

My parents were immigrants from Haiti who didn’t grow up with access to computers in their homes and consistent electricity so there was only so much they could share with me about tech. As it relates to my desire to learn more technical skills – engineers are expensive and I don’t have the funds to hire someone to build (yet).

Launched from Haiti and scaled across Latin America- the social enterprise aims to digitize the $10trillion street vending industry and leverage tourism to alleviate 2 billion people out of poverty. After the 2010 earthquake in Haiti, I went to Haiti as part of a relief team. I found that giving away donations were not enough and the people of Haiti wanted jobs and to get their lives back to their previous state. Thanks to Allie Danziger, Integrate ! #22 22 – Works Phonetically.
