Jacksonville, Florida-based and healthcare technology-focused business accelerator Healthbox has identified seven companies that will be selected to participate in its inaugural accelerator program. The companies, chosen as those that have the highest possibility to scale within the state of Florida, are either involved in consumer engagement – where they help consumers proactively manage their health or the health of their loved ones – or in wellness, making it easier for consumers to include exercise in their daily routine and monitor their own progress.

The selected companies are:

– CareSpotter is an online marketplace that helps families find the perfect caregiver.

– eTect has created the ID-Cap, a real time, medication adherence monitoring system that includes ingestible wireless sensors and a wrist watch style reader.

– mHealthCoach offers medication adherence solutions that increase compliance and encourage proper utilization that result in better outcomes and lower healthcare costs.

– ROBAUTO is working to foster relationships between humans and machines in the healthcare industry by creating personalities for robots.

– Fitzeal helps busy consumers book private appointments with independent non-medical health and fitness experts.

– Rostr provides high school athletes with a rich, mobile experience where they can directly market themselves to collegiate scouts, as well as monitor their athletic development and well-being.

– Yo-Fi Wellness provides access to healthy living initiatives through instructive yoga, fitness, nutrition and meditation video content that is delivered via an online platform.

“We chose seven companies that we strongly believe have the greatest potential to thrive in and positively impact the state of Florida,” says Nina Nashif, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Healthbox. “When you are able to match the interests of the community, established organizations will take notice and be more engaged in the growth of the startups.”

The seven startups – five of which are based in Florida, with the remaining from Chicago and Boston – will undergo a four-month accelerator program with  structured, customized support designed to address the challenges unique to starting a business in healthcare.
